Lee-enfield magazines for early smle rifles

FOR SALE - LEE-ENFIELD MAGAZINES FOR EARLY SMLE RIFLES

Type 1 and Type 2 SMLE rifle magazines were designed for the round-nosed Mark 6 round. Starting around 1910 there was a gradual transition to the new pointed-nose Mark 7 round. The new round did not feed reliably in either the Type 1 or Type 2 SMLE magazines.

Type 3 SMLE rifle magazines are Type 1 and Type 2 magazines that have been remanufactured to work with the Mark 7 round. A portion of the left front case was cut away and a spring lip was riveted in place. In addition, there is a movable “stop clip” on the right side of the case. The spine of Type 3 magazine cases are stamped “3”. The magazine platform (follower) is marked “2”.

All of the SMLE magazines below are Type 3, clean, functional, and in good condition. Marking are typically found on the case spine and are very small; you may need your phone magnifier to see the details clearly.

Price: Your choice of any one of those below for $85 USD plus $10 for USPS Flat-Rate shipping. Tracking and insurance included. Free shipping if you purchase two or more.

Payment by Money Order (available at the USPO, Western Union, Walmart, Target, RiteAid, Walgreens, and many grocery stores).

    A. EFD (Royal Small Arms Factory Enfield) Type 3 body; EFD and Broad Arrow marked. Type 2 follower marked with a large “A”. EFD marked.

    B. EFD Type 3 body. The “3” is doublestruck, one of which is upside down. Broad Arrow marked with multiple EFD inspection markings. Type 2 follower with a very nice Australianicon Lithgow star.

    C. EFD Type 3 body with EFD inspection marks. Type 2 follower is EFD marked.

    D. BSA (Birmingham Small Arms Company) Type 3 body with Broad Arrow and BSA inspection marks. Type 2 follower is Australian Lithgow manufacture.

    E. Type 3 body with an EFD-like mark; EFD inspection markings on spine. Type 2 follower is Australian Lithgow manufacture.
