Advisory Panel
Apparently introduced under the misapprehension that snipers would actually remove the scopes from their rifles in the front line areas. The lack of fixing points as per the No.8 Case and the tinned steel liner meant the scopes rattled around in the cases, causing noise and no doubt wear to the brass drum rims etc. No wonder the concept didn't last. Would have been smarter to keep making the No.8 Case but in thick aluminum, or else make something similar to this soft case, but in heavy waterproofed leather perhaps with a metal stiffener between two layers of leather?
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.
