NPM M1 Carbine appears original and NOT an Import

Up for sale is a very nice example of a National Postal Meter M1icon Carbine from their 3rd serial number block. These NPM carbines had a very low production rate and original surviving samples are very difficult to obtain. The rear of the receiver is marked; "NATIONAL/POSTAL METER/4220601" and the front section of the barrel is marked "UNDERWOOD/8-43" followed by a Flaming Cannonball. The various parts are correctly marked as follows; Trigger Housing "N-16", Hammer a partial "H", Operating Slide "9 N" and the left side of the Bolt is marked "N 11". It is fitted with the early smooth sided push button safety, smooth face magazine catch marked "NS". It is fitted with the first type barrel band without the bayonet lug and marked "UI" on the band and "UN" on the swivel the early Type I flip rear sight has been field replaced with a Type III marked "I.R.C.O. 7160060". The Type III stock is a correct factory Low wood Type III American Black Walnut stock with a boxed "NPM/FJA" cartouche on the right side of the butt. The sling slot is marked "TRIMBLE TN". The handguard is also an Type II handguard with the two rivets also stamped "TN" on the underside. The muzzle and interior barrel is bright and shinny and in very good condition. There are NO import marks or rebuild marks. This carbine is in original condition with NO refinished parts whatsoever. This is a classic example of a service "G.I."carried carbine with a field modification of an upgraded rear sight as practiced routinely in the field during WWII. This carbine appears to have never gone through a rebuild at a rear echelon facility post WW II.
This carbine is priced at $2295 plus actual shipping and insurance (if wanted). Three (3) day non firing inspection.
You get a full refund (minus shipping) if your not satisfied.
I will supply a 15 round G.I. magazine (if legal in your state) with this purchase. No other accessories included.
Please E mail me for photos. Your must be able to take delivery from a C & R. No sales to states or counties where this item is unconstitutionally prohibited for sale. U.S. sales only.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle.
