Opie Taylor Spotted With C Tip Sling

Season 1, Episode 1 of the Andy Griffin Show. Titled: The New Housekeeper, 1st aired October 3, 1960. When Aunt Bea 1st comes to stay and care for Opie and Andy.

I seen it the other night and spied Opie's clever use of a M1icon Carbine C Tip Sling. I found the episode today but couldn't catch a screen shot. Best I could do was get a couple pictures off of my laptop using my phone.

To set the scene Andy was washing the patrol car as Opie strolled up coming home from school. In maybe a 1/4 frame you caught a glimpse of the Sling snapped around the handle of his lunch box strewn over his shoulder. That was impossible to stop and get a pic of.

These are the best 2 pictures out of the bunch. Their grainy and we'll never know if the Sling was OD green or Khaki, But it is indeed a C Tip.

I also seen that episode the other night. The entire episode was hilarious. I had noticed it when he started swinging those books with a thin small strap then I paused it and noticed what it was...Charlie your good ?

    Frank,
Did you hear Opie at the end when Aunt Bea was leaving telling his Paw.... "We can't let her go she doesn't know how to do anything"
"She can't catch fish or frogs or anything"
That sorta tore me up a little

That did get to you, those words were his way of telling his dad he wanted to accept her.

Opie would be considered a misogynist in today's world with a comment like that.

The skeet shooting episode was nothing compared to when Ellie ran for City Council. Andy had the whole town split up. Men vs Women, except Barney who took along with the Women. Men got hungry and finally gave in.
