    5.56 ammo id

I have 2 batches of ammo that Im not sure of what the manufacture is. The first is in a heavy brown plastic wrap . It says 300 RD 5.56 x 45 CTN 711 A83Z marked on the outside of it. The next ammo I bought years ago. It came in a green metal ammo can packed full of 20 round boxes. The heads have T Z 80 3 marked 90 degrees apart . Im pretty sure it is all 55 grain .Does any one know where this stuff comes from and if it is considered high quality ammo? Thanks in advance

The stuff in the brown plastic sounds like South African.

I've shot a lot of TZ ammo in 45ACP. It is good ammo.

Pics of the labels would confirm, but the TZ is definitely Israeli, and I'd agree the other sounds South African.

TZ80 ruined many a rifle, but that's the 7.62 stuff. Hope the 5.56 is of better quality! Hold onto that 300 round SA battlepack, people are paying insane prices for unopened ones.
