    6.09 SA National Match...

I picked up a 6.09 Springfield Armory National Match Rifle at the CMPicon North Store Saturday. I have always wanted a six million serial numbered Garandicon and this looked like a nice one.

The front handguard doesn't match, but it sure is pretty:

    A very late six million:

The national match barrel measures about 1.5 at the muzzle:

    National Match modified gas cylinder:

    NM front sight:

Good sharp cartouches, but plenty of dings in the stock:

Did it have a NM Front or Rear Sight on it? I haven't been to the North Store in years and I haven't seen or kept up with what those NM Rifle in their hands really are, so I don't also know what would be typical for sights on them. Maybe I'm due to pick up yet another Garandicon.

The rear sight is a non-hooded .059 aperature that seems nicely fitted and tight even at extreme elevation. The front sight, as can be seen in the photo above, is a NM .062 blade.

    Thanks.

Ha ha. I somehow missed the front sight being so busy looking the receiver over. Thanks for the information. Have any of them at the North Store had the hooded rear sights on them?

Not that I saw. But mine was a rack grade, I didn't look at the field and service grades very closely.
