Seller's Description:
A Mauser Argentine M 1909 High Turret mount Sniper rifle with the correct issue scope for this model, in 7.63x53mm caliber. THe Rifle is in excellent original unaltered condition with 97% plus original blue finish, and all matching numbers.(Except the cl. rod) The wood is beautiful, original finish, unsanded, with sharp cartouches and numbers. The bore is bright and shiney. The Scope is the proper Carl Zeiss 4x scope with a unique range-finding reticle proper for this model. It has a very small dent in the top and a small chip in the edge of the eyepiece that can be seen in one of the photos.I recently had the scope professionally cleaned, and refinished to it's original state to match the rifle.(The scope with the rings, came out of
Argentina
years ago and had considerable more waer than the rifle).I did not have the scope re-soldered to the rings. It is held snugly, but does turn. In years of collecting, I have never seen one of these rifles with the proper scope. A complete, rare sniper rig in exceptional condition for the advanced collector! I'm thinning out my collection!Check out my other auctions and compare my reasonable prices and great quality to other auctions/internet sites. Look at my feedback and bid with confidence!

I love Argentine
1909s, even the snipers, but yikes! $2800 USD for a restored sniper with a refinished and mismatched scope with a badly chipped rear lense, dented body. Not properly soldered on. I'd also want to see ALOT more detail photos to satisfy myself it's not a put-together on a standard infantry rifle.
Even if legit, I think the price is too high by at least a factor of 2. Just my opinion.

I agree....
I think it's originally a "hunting" scope, not military, but I''m checking with a guy on GB who's an expert on these old girls. The serial number is also outside the range of Webster's book indicating the ones that were originally imported for use as snipers.

I don't know how to seach their records, but I recall reading the sellers sales pitch for this item, almost word for word back in Jan. or Feb./07. Maybe it sold and was returned after the buyer had some hands on time.
