This was one of the $100 ones, correct?
I remember saying something about getting a receiver and a tomato stake for that $100 back when they first started advertising them. The CMP
is going above and beyond, as usual, in the customer service department.

It was one of the $125.00 receivers with correct dated barrels. I have no gripe with CMP
's service department. They have gone out of their way to help me. The only issue I have is with the grading system. I remember seeing that these barrels would meet rack grade specs but I didn't realize that the specs were that far out.

CMP
is on a slippery slope if they start accepting them back. I got three $125 match sets and all three barrels were worthless. I kind of expected that. In fact,I ordered the matching ones by mistake,I never expected them to be any good after reading numerous reports by others.

The 2855613 has an ME of 1 and TE of 3. Very nice.

I replaced both of my barreled receivers barrels. Even at $125.00 they were a good deal. If guys are looking for mint barrels, stay away!

Rather than send it back, would you consider selling it? I would be interested if you are.

I too think that this is splitting hairs. If I received a receiver with matching barrel, I would not care what the TE was.
When you say the TE was 9, I recall 4-5 years ago my Gun Club was selling off their Garands by bid and going to AR's for club loan. They had one that they knew the barrel was bad so they offered it to me without bid. They knew that I had some Garand
barrels. I bought it for around $350 as I recall.
In checking the barrel, it had a TE of 9+, sure it was worn badly, and I replaced it. But you have to think about this fact.
It was being loaned out, shot by club members and guests, and apparently used satisfactorily. Probably didn't win any matches but it served the purpose. BTW, it was a 4 mil and I easily found a barrel in the serial number range.
Back to the CMP
. I believe that what some are saying here is this may be a case of crying wolf too much. A $100 BR is not expecting too much. Myself I have received some pretty bad stuff back when they were selling woodless Garands. I also received some great stuff too. I took the bad with the good.

Here is what happened for those that question my logic in sending it back. The barrel was shot out really bad so I contacted CMP
and asked it the ME and TE met the rack grade specs. That was the jist of my email to them. I didn't really ask for anything. I didn't contact them to gripe other than ask a question. CMP offered to take it back and they would try to get me a better one. With that offer, I sent it back. They have been great!
I understand that a receiver for $125.00 let alone a barreled receiver for that cost is dirt cheap! That never was in question. Also, I already have a post war barrel I was going to put on it that is in great condition so I wasn't worried too much about it. However, when CMP said send it back I sent it back.
Sorry, Dave, I already sent it back. In fact I had the shipping tag from CMP two days later.

"CMP
said send it back, so I did". Say what? YOU contacted with a thank you note? Hardly. You complained and they bent over backwards. I know of a case where a M1903 was sent back to a Mr. Meredith who closely examined said return. Funny story--it was NM '03! They are still laughing about that one at CMP South!
