Serial number list of USMC 1911's used in Nicaragua

Hey I was talking with a friend of mine, and he said there is a list of 1911 serial numbers that were used by Marine Corps in Nicaragua. Does anyone have that list lying around or know a website that has it posted. He believes my 1913 Colt serial number was on the list.

For what it's worth, I don't know of a list like that, but that does not mean it does not exist! (There are far more knowledgeable people than me...) For the early USMC pistols, I believe there is little arguement about a pistol in 'the range' actually being shipped to the USMC. Assuming your 1913 is in the S/N range of 36401 to 37650 Clawson (and another source) shows it was shipped to the USMC. If I had a pistol in that range, I would certainly invest in a letter from Colt's. Of course, that will not tell anything about the actual service history... just that it shipped to the USMC.

Yeah I got serial number 36,875. It says it was shipped to 1100 Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 07/09/13 for the USMC.

I think there is a list somewhere someone compiled. I remember vaguely seeing one on the old CSP board about two or three years ago showing confirmed Serial numbers of 1911's that were used in Nicaragua. I had forgot about it, until I was talking with an old 1stSgt that used to hang around the old board and he brought it up. He said he had researched it alot, and he thought he saw my serial number or one that was really close to it on that list.

Over the years I have seen several lists of weapons sent to Nicarauga with the Marines, but there is no complete list that I know of. If there was a list or lists found, I have a feeling that it would be recorded by Springfield Research Service.

Thanks so much John, no luck on my serial number but a fine looking 1911 of yours. I sort of like the rebuilds that are a mix of 1911 and A1 parts.

Especially when they have the longer grip safety and arched mainspring housing. They are so much more comfortable to shoot and you don't come home with a bloody hand from shooting the regular 1911.
