Hope your sitting down.
I just found out that some dealers in my area are being told that come this September, the price on factory ammunition is going to increase...a LOT!!!! This will include all shotgun ammo too. It will also apply to reloading components so if you thought the prices are hign now then just wait. Might be a good idea to stock up on what you can now.

Hey guys I'm just the messenger here. The three dealers I talked to said that they were just told a big price increase on all factory loaded ammo and reloading componants. No reasons were given as to why just for them to get ready for it. The last one said he cannot get anything right now and was still selling what he did have in stock. I bought a 1000 Winchester small rifle primers for $27.00 and was glad for it but he was out of small pistol and large rifle and pistol primers. He did have magnum large rifle and pistol in stock but those were starting to sell too. He is not sure if there will be a lot of factory ammo available come September or not much at all with just a price increase.

Does this guy have ammo to sell? I've met a few ammo dealers that perpetually forecast historic jumps in ammo prices every year. I'm not saying that he isn't right this time, but it seems more likely that they will be stuck with inventory after the buying surge. I've been seeing plenty of factory ammo in stock, just no primers yet.
I had one dealer in Alabama tell me that the CMP
brought carbines out of storage this year because they could "finally get rid of them" during the post election panic. Another dealer in Virginia told me that CMP had finally run completely out of carbines and Garands. Of course he was trying to sell me a Garand
at an inflated price.
