It was great to see the Imperial matches at Bisley in full swing and an absolute pleasure to meet some of you in person. It certainly won't be so long between trips for me. I also had a nice visit with the crew at G.E. Fultons and have some of their new No.4 commercial scope bases with the Picattiny rail on hand if in need. My best to all.

No 4 bases as in No 4T? Or are they bases for any No 4? If "T", I reckon I'm in!

The bases from Fultons are "no-gunsmithing required" type with Picatinny rail and made of steel. It's simply the best commercial No.4 scope base out there IMHO.
I also have some unfinished No.32 brakets from the good Dr. Payne
. I've got to finish them in phosphate and Suncorite. Check with me in the shop in a couple of weeks. ATB.

Just a note,
A leading gun body has told UK shooters NOT to volunteer to help run events at the 2012 Olympics in London. The Sportsman's Association formed to oppose the ban on pistols in 1996, says using Woolwich as a venue for the shooting events in 2012 is wrong and urged the industry not to help out, if asked.
It wants the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games to reconsider building temporary facilities, which would be torn down after the event rather than creating a lasting legacy by revamping the facilities at Bisley in Surrey.
For too long the shooting sportsmen and women of the UK have bent over backwards to facilitate events such as the Commonwealth Games ans Olympics. What do we get in return? Nothing except more legislation designed to kill off the sport.
The London 2012 website states London 2012 will depend on 70,000 volunteers to make the olympic Games and Paralympics Games run smoothly and successfully.
Apart from blighting the lives of the Army families that will have to move out, the Woolwich facilities are unsuitable for accurate shooting.
Bisley, the home of British
shooting is 30 minutes from London, will be cheaper to modify to Olympic standards, and will leave a lasting legacy for shooting sports. " Not using Bisley can only lead us to conclude that someone has deliberatly decided to shaft us. That doesn't mean that we have to accept it with a smile on our faces! "

The saga continues!

There was also a presantation at Bisley last night showing, apparently, (I wasn't there) what the proposed Bisley development would look like.
I do believe there is every chance of Bisley being able to get it as the UK Olympic fund runs out of money and other options look too grandiose in these hard economic times we face here.
On a personal note; if we do get it at Bisley it will screw up shooting for at least two years, the plus point though will be toilets with plumbing that will actually work!

It would be rather a poisoned chalice if they do get it.

By the time that happens they will all have become SSSIs due to the unique spiders, with webs that are impervious to the vibrations caused by gunfire, that are bound to have evolved. Hadronyche Bisleyana perhaps.
