O3A3 barrels
Probably elementary to most forum members here but how does one tell the difference between an 03A3 barrel and a regular barrel for an O3?
I got three out of that auction and one has buggered threads. Use for a picket pin.
The others appear decent and usable. I made the quantum jump that they are A3s as almost all the parts with them are Rem. O3s.

'03 has a uniform diameter section for rear sight base.
'03-A3 does not as the rear sight is on the receiver.
Those visible in the photo are '03-A3.

M1903, barrel diameter at shoulder: ~ 1.145"
M1903A3 barrel diameter at shoulder: ~1.200
M1903, front sight attachment: spline milled integral with barrel. Notch in spling at rear for fixed base pin.
M1903A3 front sight attachment: three milling cuts form a seat for removeable .1" square key. Key has notch in middle for 03A3 front sight base pin.
If the M1903 barrel has ever had a rear sight fixed base attached to it, it will have a longitudinal slot at the shoulder, in the 10:00 or 2:00 position; and a transverse slot at the 6:00 position in approx 2.9" forward of the shoulder.
Resp'y,
Bob S.
