I'm thinkin that just may be against the law in Kaliforniev! Pretty cool though!

Strange coincidence........We were just the other day discussing how you can make a pistol into a rifle, but not vice-versa, here in the shop. I was describing that very conversion to a co-worker. Now here you put up a pic for me to show him. Thanks for the pic! I remember when Fed. Ord. sold those kits in the early 80's. Haven't seen one since then.
Thanks again,
Emri

I have a book,"Famous Pistols and Handguns"by AJR Comrack.
It has a picture of the 1911,with a stock, that is in the Smithsonian.
It looks like the Browning Hi Power pistol with stock.

I would be willing to bet that 2 weeks after one aqquired this set-up he would be seriously asking himself "what was I thinking?". That is unless one of his buddies had already posed the question.

Prior to WWII the U.S. military experimented with a conversion for the 1911 pistol to convert it into a full auto carbine with a stock, longer barrel, and extended magazine. They found that it made an accurate pistol, but an inaccurate carbine, and the project was dropped.

If the buttstock was NOT removeable, it would be legal.
But unless you are some 19th-20th century European army officer, a rifle is more practical

I'd love to have a legal buttstock for my Colt Woodsman -- what a squirrel gun that would make. But I can't imagine why I'd want one for my M1911.

I tried one on my 1911A1 and found that it blew gasses directly into my eye. Shooting glasses and all. It also put things uncomfortably close to my eye. Sure enough, I ended thinking like Festus said...Why?
