Stevens 620 Riot
I recently purchased a Stevens 620 Riot that, while mechanically sound, cosmetically it leaves a lot to be desired. First off, there are 4 different serial #s. 9445 on the butt, 17105 on the receiver, 16934 on the trigger guard, and 13698 on the barrel extension. It also has a Weaver compensator installed, but no choke insert for it. To install it the barrel was threaded. The original hole for the front bead is still under it, so at least the barrel hasn't been shortened. The buttstock is junk, someone practiced their woodworking skills on it. The receiver is marked U.S. on the left side, and has Ordnance marks on the receiver and barrel. It has been reblued at some time with very little prep. At worst I have a decent short shotty with a little work. It would make a good Trench replica, which would cover the threaded muzzle. Here's some pics:

It looks like one of these Remington buttstocks can be fitted without a lot of work!

Look how the barrel extension sticks out below the receiver. Definitely from another gun:

You can see the original hole for the front bead here:

stock looks fixable, since its numbered to the gun id try that first.
barrel, well cut at the threads, install a new bead and be happy.
the finish on 620,s was a bit rough anyway, i have a 620 thats like new original finish, it has a rough blue finish.
a trenchgun would have different markings..

Chuck, have you ever heard of gunsmith's who can step the barrel.
They turn down the end and heat up and slide over another one. This would only be done on a trench gun where the seam would be under the lug.

you could add a peice on the end like you would thread on a muzzle break,
sound a bit pricey.
i could do it, and you wouldnt see even a seem. but the cost would be close to 200.00
just for the set up and lathe time.
the finish might never match.
