How to install AK compliant gas piston????

Gave this a half hearted try after noticing that the pin head seemed oval, possibly indicating the hole is tapered and the pin peened over into it, making for difficult removal. Or am I missing something here???

Surely there are easier compliant parts???????? I have the trigger hammer set up.....does anyone make the odd nut for the grip screw, grip & screw trigger/hammer pins???

Any one here have some of this stuff to sell??? PJHeck

There is a specific list of AK parts, 16 on a stamped rifle, 15 on a milled (no separate trunnion), that you can substitute for US compliant parts. The most common are:

US made mag- 3 parts
trigger group- 3 parts
stock set- 3 parts
gas piston - 1 part
muzzle device (if threaded)- 1 part
receiver- 1 part
barrel- 1 part

Your maximum import part count can be 10, so depending on what you have and if your muzzle is threaded, replace 4 to 6 parts from the above list to be legal. Since you've already replaced your trigger group, a US made mag makes you legal.

The screw for the handle can be gotten at most any gunshow or can be found on line. occassionally Cheaper than Dirt has them or you might try Sarco or Numrich Gun Parts. IMHO replace the grip with a nice ergonomical one. They run about $20 and well worth it. Check out the ATI Strike Force package. About $100 it contains a foregrip with P rails, rear grip, and a folding collapsable buttstock that folds to the left. The hinge is rather bulky but funcionable or it can be pinned in places that do not allow folding stocks.
