Question about your dad's Garand
A few days ago, I received a request to see if your fathers Garand
1007815 was listed among the list of Garands that had been destroyed by Captain Crunch at Anniston. Thru June 1993, that number does not appear. I do not have any numbers beyond 1993. Wish I had more infor for you. The Garand Collectors has a copy of this list also....

dads garand
Thanks for looking up that info. for me. So hopefully it is still out there somewhere. Dad was 19 when he was issued that gun in boot camp. I have been looking for it for about 3 years in hopes of finding it. I was wanting to find it and give it to dad but he passed away last year at age 85. Now i still hope to find it one day. I have his 1943 bootcamp target book showing the serial number and his shots at the targets at 100 to 500 yards. I also have a letter he wrote home in 1943 telling about the "new" Garand
rifles they were issued. Thanks again

Good luck.
HK,
That URL you listed tries to drop a java script trojan on your system. If your system is not alerting you when you access it, you may have a problem.
Secondly, that "list" is not reliable; it's been known to list false serial numbers.

Trend Micro usually blocks these and alerts me. Obviously it didn't say a thing about that site for I wouldn't have posted. What software are you using that picked it up?
Hmmmm, and I thought I found his dad's rifle.......

HK,
I think everyone realizes there was no malice intended on your part. This machine uses AVG AV and another machine I have uses Antivir, both give alerts.
If you look at the data presented in that link, you can see the submitted entries are scrambled further down which is a hint right away the site has been hacked. I'm not saying "Dad's" rifle entry isn't accurate, I'm suggesting that some of those entries are false or altered. That URL has been questionable for about two years and the owner is brain dead for either not pulling that link or fixing his site.

No ,that Garand
forum you looked at is where one of my friends tryed listing it to see if anyone knew where it might be. He really didn't know what he was doing and it looks like it is one that someone has but so far it's not.
