Found a good ammo for the Swede M38

After testing different bullets from 90 grs. up to 156grs. and powders only VV N110 and N140, i think i found the best combination for my rifle. After having various troubles like enourmos diameters at 100metres i`ll go on testing at 50metres. Then i found a very good load at 50 metres and was happy. But only as long as i tested it at 100metres with shotgroups around 75mm!!! Now i have one with a 139grs. Lapua Scenar bullet 35.5grs. VV N140, CCI BR-2 primer, Col. 78,2mm. But i said enough look at the pic there is a 7-shot group to see.

Gunner, if your load is under the max and you have some room to play with pressures then try adjusting your bullet seating depth. Try going over listed OAL in .005 increments and see if groups get better. If they open up more go the other way and reduce OAL seating depth in .005 increments. I have found that a lot of these old war horses are very sensitive to bullet seating depth. I have a load for a K98K that likes .035 under published OAL for the bullet used. Good luck.

Hi JBS,
Good advice. I seated the bullet 0.5mm deeper than i measured it out so that it dont touch the grooves. The two holes a little far away from the rest are the " Schützenstreuung" that means shooters scattering. But you are right, the OAL depends much on the rifle and the Oal`s in the reloaders guides are not always correct.

We call them " Fliers " over here. The older you get the more common they become.
