Swivel Band Difference?
Could someone post a pic of a comparison of the Remington and the Smith Corona swivel bands. I'm a bit confused on the two. Your help is appreciated...

Remington and Smith-Corona swivel bands are virtually identical. The swivels, however, are different. Remington swivels are marked with an "R". Smith-Corona swivels are unmarked. The bands and swivels were assembled at the factory and the screws were staked because band disassembly was never intended. So, if you find an intact band/swivel assembly, it should be either all Remington or all Smith-Corona.
Hope this helps.

Thanks John. I thought I heard somewhere that the ends of a SC are rounded and Remington not? Your help is appreciated.

Ron i believe what you may be referring to is the shape of the slot cut in the fore-end for the barrel band retaining spring. The forward end of the slot on Remington stocks is cut square and on SC's the end of the slor is rounded.
