    threaded barrel end on swede mauser?

    there is a threaded cap on the threaded end, why was this done

    I believe a blank firing mechanism could be screwed on to the end of the barrel to pulverize the wooden bullets. The cap was to protect the threads.

    wooden bullets, wow, had no idea, to think of it that sounds a bit dangerous, wood splinters flying around?? but what do i know

    Or a legal suppressor! In the US there's a federal background check and a $200 one time tax. Only problem is that I don't think any of the off the shelf supressors have the proper thread- but I haven't really checked. An adaptor would be easy enough.
    The main functional concern is whether the threads are parallel and concentric to the bore; a blank adaptor wouldn't have to be all that precisely attached.
