windage
before these rifles were issued, did a Bn or Co armorer and/or command set windage at a known distance course, that is when the average Brit GI issued a rifle was the windage at zero for say 200 meters??

Most British
Army shooting practice took place at ranges between 100 and 600 yards. Typically the rifles would be zeroed at 100 yds before the main practice took place. The individual soldier might fire a five round group, the point of impact (POI) would then be checked by the supervising range officer/NCO. The sights would be adjusted and a "check group" fired. The windage would always be set to zero, and the soldier trained to "aim off" to compensate for wind at longer ranges.
