Winder Musket
Digging through my stuff and found another .22 that I've had for years and paid no attention to. It is a Winder Musket US marked. I cleaned and checked it. It's fine with Lyman rear sight and 07 sling dated 1918. Chambered in .22 short. Where would you buy those?. I dont know when made or issued. s/n 1357x Interesting piece of history, but how would you transition from that to an 03. Regards, Gary

The Winchester Winder Musket was purchased by the US Government during WW1 as a training rifle. But the war was over in 1918 before a lot of them was delivered. They are great rifles and shoot great, Just buy regular .22 caliber shorts ammo.
It appears that the life span wasn't long for the Winder Musket as they were sold as surplus when the Springfield 1922 bolt action rifle was introduced.
I notice you are in SW Ohio. So am I maybe we know each other. Do you go to any of the area Gunshows?
