Your SG 3,49x,xxx falls into the split serial number block. This serial block started at SG with serial 3,250,020, with later production switched to S'G' ending at serial 3,651,519. It's possible that the receiver was set aside for some reason and after S'G' finished up their production (which was this last block) sent along leftover parts to SG.
Another possibility is that you carbine may have been built after the completion of S'G' production thus the use of a passed on flip sight.
Stranger things have been seen on both divisions of Saginaw.
Many SG and S'G' in this block especially towards the end of it have been seen with intermixed Saginaw parts.
SG was known to have shipped some wide tang receivers to S'G' for them to finish up this block. These SG to S'G' wide tang receivers have been seen with no SG stamped on the frt left side of the receiver and marked S'G' on top of the receiver.
I believe the flip to be real, the markings are consistent to known originals.
Though your carbine along with the flip sight look to have been refinished by the Bavarians. Or at least the pictures make it look as though it was refinished. Which I understand is common with the Bavarians.
Now with the fact that it came thru the CMP
, it shouldn't have ever been in civilian hands.
No chance of Bubba putting on repro parts.
Nice find.....Thanks for sharing it with us.
When you get a chance give us a full breakdown.
Cheers,

P.S.
Does your receiver have the wide or narrow rear locking tang?
Looking on the front lower leftside of the receiver does it have SG stamped on it?
Like this picture.....

Yes it is a wide tang and does have the small SG on the left front of the receiver. I also have 3,500,1xx and it has the standard S on the left of the rear sight and no other markings on it. It is also a CMP
bavarian. It also has the small SG and is a wide tang. Both have been Black oxided or blued, but not ground and buffed. I will get pics of both when I get home from work today or tommorow.
Thanks

Pretty rare,
Having a SG made receiver passed on to S'G' to finish up their production.
Nice score......

I am not so sure the S'G' marked flip sight is original to your receiver. I seem to remember that many of the flip sights on these carbines had been removed at one time and then replaced at a later date. Many of these have dents on the sides where some non-precision tools were used for removal and re-installation. I have also heard a few reports of various Bavarian carbines having "non correct" flip sights on them. IMHO I think a mis-matched installation of an "S'G' " marked flip sight at the time of reinstallation is the most likely explaination.

The stake marks are not damaged like when a sight is removed and reinstalled, that is why I was questioning this sight. The other 3 bavarians I bought all have the correct rear sight on them. I guess It could be a replacement sight, but I tend to think this is original. I will take some better pics of the rest of the rifle and the stake marks in particular. Thanks for the input.

Here are pics of both rear sight stake marks on SG 3,499,xxx and 3,500,xxx
the 3.49 is on the top and has the B-S'G' and the 3.50 has only the small S
Both rifles are Saginaws with SG trigger housings, hammers, bolts, unmarked sears, SG triggers, and stocks
3.50 has a SG slide, and recoil plate
3.49 has a W-S'G" recoil plate
3.50 came with a checkered safety and .U. mag catch
3.49 with a flip afety and a PR-B mag catch.

SG's were found with the rear flip sight with the Square S along with the round S on the left base. No markings on the right base and no markings on the leaf.
