Lou, have you been misusing the dishwasher for non-domestic purposes
?

Well the shop isn't heated (yet... gotta finish insulating), so I'm moving in the laundry space in winter time. The Mrs doesn't like it too much, but I'm the one doing laundry, so...
Anyways here's where I was yesterday with the repair. I still have to carve the recess for the rear handguard retaining ring.

Here's what I did yesterday. Carved the groove that allows the rear handguard retaining ring to fit in.

That's some beautiful work, Lou! Can you describe how you attached those pieces to the stock? Did you use screws, then cover with a dowel or just use a wood peck/dowel to secure them?
I've got a Remington stock that needs that same right side repair in front of the receiver.
You're providing some great motivation!

Thanks Mark.
I use good quality epoxy glue. The brand I use is "West Epoxy System", it's a lot better than more common brand names.
I make sure the wood is clean, I usually use isopropyl alcohol to clean the surfaces that will be glued together.
I'm about to post repairs to the handguard that will go with that forestock, so mre to come
