1943 Savage
Hi All, I've just partially disassembled this rifle for another thread. As it has the pattern style upper and lower barrel bands (real PIA to install) does anyone need any info while it's apart? It's 100% original so it may help someone. I'll leave it disassembled for a couple of days.
Brad

I recently acquired this 43 Savage. It appears to be all original with the exception of the safety. It has a Longbranch marked safety. I have been told that due to the close proximity of LB and Savage that they would supply each other with small parts when one ran low. Any comment on that?

Front sling loop and front band close ups? I have a '43 that has a problem with the front sling loop and pictures would help me deside if I'm keeping or parting out the rifle or not.

MJ1, Give me a couple of days for pics...I promised to help a friend with his toy car and it unexpectly, to me anyway, was brought off the back burner to the front.
madcratebuilder, Original backsights for Savage are the Mk.I very early in production, then the Mk.II afterwards. Is that a Canadian
backsight? (There won't be a spacer on the RHS at the pin, BTW.)

Sure, how about a survey of the front handguard, most notably the rivet features? See my thread on such madness:
Rivet Tail Variations on No4 Front Handguard Nosecaps - Military Surplus Collectors Forums
Thanks!

Thanks Brad, I appreciate the schooling. This Savage is 76C8515, bolt matches with S marked #3 head. Bands, trigger guard, magazine, butt stock all are S marked. The rear sight is marked on the top front MK3. The back is marked M 47 at the top and the peep is marked MK3. There is a spacer on the right side of the pivot pin.
