BM-59 by Springfield Armoury
Picked up an Unfired Bm-59 that was Manufactured by Springfield Armoury today (receiver is actually marked 7.62 BM-59 Springfield Armoury, ser # 227). Rifle is Mint and unfired but without the box. 7 original BM-59 mags came with it for $1650.00. How'd I do???
Regardless its a pretty neat rifle...

Well the rifle alone was a deal at $1650, but then with the 7 extra mags valued at $75 to 100 ea . I would say you did very well !

Sounds like a good deal. Low serial number there. I have a BM 69 and would like to own a BM 59 as well.

bm 59 rifle
I have a BM 59 by Springfield, i never bought extra clips and a couple of years ago thought it would be a good idea. When I first saw them they were 25 - 45 $ each the bayonet was 50 - 75
now if you can find them they are 100 + for clips and the bayonets are as scarce as can be.
Reese use to have them but no more.
There is a german surplus store but ive heard mixed reviews about the reliability - not sure if i want to send him any money they suposedly have original beretta clips with stainless follower.
my gun is never fired, in box original clip, bipod, grenade launcher, bayonet lug, great gun and i now have no where to shoot it....

You did great on the price, although the box and manuals would have made it a collector's gun. I had one years ago, and it was completely reliable - but a 2-3 MOA grouper with most .308/7.62MM. I got to "Sharpshooter" in Service Rifle with one, then they made me get a real US Service Rifle! About 2500 were made up from imported Beretta parts by SAI, and it is a neat gun. The magazines are expensive, so you made out very well. Low number and unfired - I'd be tempted to keep it that way. Did it come with the bipod and grenade launcer sights? Mine did, and I bought an Alpini paratrooper folding stock and original, new Beretta Bayonet for it, and the factory manual. You might check with Reese Surplus (if they still exist) and see if they have anything left for the BM-59.
Sturdy and practical, a good weapon, if not as accurate as an M1A
. Great battle rifle. The Tricompensator just about eliminates muzzle flash and muzzle rise, completely. Another neat member of the M1 Garand Family!

SARCO has magazines. At least they did a couple of months ago.
