my first post, & my first garand and german k98, this is a COOL site!
I just found this site. I am or might be in the process of trading for an M1
Garand with some factory match ammo in their clips. Its a springfield and appears to be used but in decent condition. I hope its a good'n. the guy said it tested out good, or the barrel did anyway. If I get it I will try to post pics.

Got to agree with you - nice friendly and sensible site where everyone seems so much more adult than other forums I@m on.

I should be getting it tomorrow. I am anxious to get it. I have an M14
but never shot a Garand. I know they are similar but there's just somthin about the Garand.

I have many rifles that I love and love to shoot but nothing, and I mean nothing tops the feeling of shouldering and triggering a round or eight in my beloved 30-06 Garands!

I just got home with it about an hour ago. I love it. I got about 430 or so rounds with it on the 8rnd clips. They are match fmj rounds in their original gi ammo can. it says "MATCH" in yellow down each side. They are made I think in 1968. I caint wait to shoot it. I also got a German K98
mauser or however you spell it. Its all german too. Still has some eagle with swastika marks on it. The barrel and receiver and stock have matching numbers but the floorplate dont. The garand's stock is a little rough and has little ping marks along the side on each side of which I was told it was normal because GI's did it to make sure their ammo was all the way back in the clip. As far as the german k98, its nice and it has a big 44 on it. The garand's serial number is 1,7xx,xxx so from what I can tell its a 40 model. The barrel has a SA 10-49 on it. I will try to post some pics once I get a chance to.
