Chromed M1917 bayonet?
I have very little knowledge of bayonets. I have a M1917 Remington bayonet that is chromed. It appears to be the original finish and all marks appear to be correct. I don't have my camera here and I tried to get a picture with a phone camera, but it wouldn't give any detail. All of the references to the bayonet I have read mentioned blued blades. Were these issued in chrome? I have owned this for probably 40 years and it has a leather scabbard with no visible markings, but the scabbard appears original to the bayonet. I thought that some of the true experts here could help me out.

no they were not issued in chrome , the probability is it was for parade use or a presentation to a retiree or some such

Parade bayonet. Probably for an Honor Guard unit.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!
