Correct Barrel??
I have a SA reciever #428,377 currently mated to a 1951 barrel. I'm attempting to restore the rifle period correct and I have run across a chance to purchase a 10-41 SA barrel for it. Is this barrel a suitable match for my reciever? I have been told some parts could as far off as 6 months due to production lag. Any thoughts?

10-41 is fine for a December '41 rifle. If you can post the drawing number and heat lot number (stamped on top of the barrel under the rear handguard) it will help to determine if it is an original 10-41 barrel.

I'm just going from the photos I have, but I believe the heat lot is REP-30A, possibly its a little blured. Additionally the SA-10-41 is stamped upside down

REP-30A sounds about right. I have seen one marked REP-31 also.

I saw a 1943 production receiver with a 1942 barrel on it at the CMP
.. Must of had an old barrel lying around that need installed!

I doubt it was just laying around. During production, a pre determined number of parts, including barrels, were set aside and placed in inventory for use during rebuilds. It would not be unusual for an earlier barrel to be used on a later receiver during a rebuild.

Interesting, it had been rebuilt by the greeks.

A '43 rifle was probably rebuilt more than once. It could have been used in both WWII and Korea before ever being sent to Greece.

The Greeks may have rebuilt the rifle, but they may not have changed the barrel. Some M1
's have gone through "rebuild" multible times. That barrel may have been installed anytime after the date on the barrel.
