Barrel Band on E-Bay
Okay guys, is this a real type 2 or a fake. Seems strange that there are no bids on it. It does appear that there is a recess under the top portion. Educate me.

It is obvious that someone went to great trouble to machine the barrel clamp just behind the band itself which in most cases are not always the way to determine if a type two band is real. If you look closely you can see that the inner part of the band is cut straight down and not beveled with the radius curve that a real band would have.

I spotted the lack of radius cuts/grings as soon as I looked at it. I'm surprised that didn't jump right out at you Paul. I've had real KI type 2 bands and they did have the radius cut.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

It must have been the CMP
that machined that band because I took it of of a 6.8 Inland that should have had the type 3 band. It still had the original finish on the carbine due to the shadow on the barrel left when inland parkerized the whole carbine bbl/rec assembly. This was a greek carbine and not a austrian/barvian that had been cut. I was bought in august of 07 if I recall. I bought 6 inlands that day and all had REAL T2 bands. I am a machinist and I am not shure what kind of vice you would have to be able to indicate properly to get both the set back and not cut into the top of the band. I could make a fixture, but I am not going to spend a weeks worth of work to sell a $150 part. I would also have to repark it and if I did that I don't think I would have left the rust on the band and the wear on the high spots. If you want more pics just ask, but it is real.
