IVI 7.62x51 Brass & the M1A

I am unfamiliar with this brass but understand it is of Canadian manufacture. I would appreciate opinions in regard to its quality and longevity in the M1A when used for typical Match loads. Thank you.

I know nothing about match loads. But I do know IVI is Good To Go brass Luv it to death
I try to keep my reloads for the M1a to 3x fired brass occasionally 4 times. but that is pushing it. M1a's are brass bashers in the worst sense

IVI is great brass. It's made by Valcartier Industries in Canada. I wish we could get more of it up here. About the only way we get it, is if it walks off the base or sometimes from dispersal sales. I understand that even that venue is going to dry up in Canada. I'm not sure if the Canadian government reloads any of its fired brass or not. Maybe someone in the know could chime in here. I do know that it is heavier than commercial brass and therefore has thicker side walls and lower case capacity. I haven't used it in a semi auto but in bolt action rifles, I have as many as 20 reloads through some of it.
Of course, I only neck resize and re anneal the cases every 5-6 reloads. Even the most well used of the brass still looks good. No cracked necks or signs of separation at all. My loads are all on the mild side, below 50,000psi.

During the Vietnam War, the U.S. Military bought and issued IVI M-80 ball ammo. I saw lots of it back in the day, in bandos and 5 rd. clips, for the M-14.

All government brass is sold through crown assets by sealed bid auction. It goes for salvage at scrap price. It goes to foundries to be re-melted and made into ingots for commercial uses. The Canadian govt has never reloaded rifle brass because it just wouldn't be worth the problems created and the difficulties involved. I too like IVI, in particular the .556 because of case thickness and durability. Pity I can't get more. The IVI ammo sold to the US during Vietnam was for use in continental US only not for overseas. That would have made us contributers to the war. We made just about everything for all calibers at that time.

This 7.62 x 51mm IVI brass is available as new and unfired for about $150 per 500. If interested Google "Top Brass" they have it available in 500 and 1000 piece lots.
