Just got an M48
Well I don't have it yet... Here in California we have to wait 10 days... 8 more to go
I walked into a pawn shop Saturday and there it was. They actually had 2 the other one was a bit better condition but It looked like the scope was not mounted right. it looked like it was just jimmy rigged. So I went for the other. Anything I might need to know about this rifle? I've been reading allot about it but any tips and tricks you guys might know about would be appreciated. I'll post some pic's next week when I get it.

Well, the M48 is basically an intermediate length K89 action. Should be reliable as-is. Make sure to fully strip it and clean it, as many/most owners never did so and it will still be gummed up from cosmolene below the woodline which really affects performance.
Is it stocked in Walnut, beech or Elm?
Here's a good place to start reading about the M48 rifle, right here in our very own MKL

Thanks Claven2
It was dirty when I bought it so i did plan on breaking it down and cleaning every last bit of it. As far as the stock... I'm not sure but I'll let you know when I get it next week. Oh and thanks for the link for the info...

Some of them do have the "sticky bolt syndrome". Not a bad thing but you may have to use a .45 cal brush and a drill to clean up the chamber.
Other than that they are great shooters.

I've got a few M48's and have found them to be in above average condition for mil-surp stuff, they shoot very well with good ammo. I've been looking for a near bottom feeder for a sniper conversion, but, still no luck. Also 24/47 Mausers are very good buys in these parts. They are kissing cousins to the M48's. Best of luck with your buy-SDH

Try and find the G43/Mp43 front sight hood. It will make a big improvment in the sight picture and shooting. I had a spare original hood and then found a second repro at the Cow Palace show.

Also because these rifles are light I would stay away from hot loads. They will kick you butt and you won't like shooting more then 5 or 6 rounds. I went with a IMR4895 load stright out of the book for 2200fps after trying some 198g 1960's German
ammo.
Cheers

Yep, them M48's are nice in terms of condition!

Some of the M24/47's aren't too bad either...
