    VW A/C Help

What you say?? But since this is an internationsal forum, I thought I would give this a try. I want to recharge the A/C on my 84 VW, but the output ports on the compressor have an S on one and an O on the other. Can some one out there direct me as to which is the high side or the low side. I just don't know if this is a Germanicon appreviation for anything.

    thanks,

I haven't done any A/C work for over 30 years, but would guess "S" means suction (low pressure side) and "O" means output [??] (high pressure side). On American autos, we called the high pres. side the "discharge" (D) side.

The high pressure side is the small diameter line running from the compressor to the condenser.

The low pressure line is the larger line running from the evaporator to the compressor.

Thanks all, that really cleared things up. This is on a van so I couldn't see where the other componets were, all I could see was 2 hoses going North.

    regards
