they look like remington "accelerators" . made I would guess about 10 years or so ago. Offered high velocity. If I recall, they weren't very accurate and never really caught on.

22 cal accelerator
This was a 22 cal bullet (55 grs SP) with a plastic sabot, introduced by Remington in 1977 for the 30-06. Later both 308 and 30-30 were introduced.
30-06 Accelerator 55gr SP at 4080 fps
30-30 Accelerator 55gr SP at 3400 fps
308 Accelerator 55gr SP at 3800 FPS

The sabots were (are) available commercially for those who load their own.

they stopped making that round after a couple years, with the issue of the 30-30, also available in this way,,they would set off other live rounds in the mag tubes.
the ATF and LE didnt like em,..no way to trace the round..no rifling...i tried them when they were new...not very accurate.

They wouldn't be all that accurate because the rifling twist is wrong for bullets this lightweight. With bullets of the right weight for the twist, I see no reason they should not be accurate.
No-one complains about lack of accuracy in saboted Tank ammunition but then, the shells are made for the twist of the bore.
Think I just might get some of those.... something to play with.

I've played around with them some but haven't had much time to really work on loads and do testing my first results weren't all that bad 4" 5 shot group at 100 yds. in my X39 Chinese /26\ SKS.
I was more interested in feed and function than accuracy,I plan to sit down one day with a selection of .224 bullets of various kinds and just see how well I can get them to shoot. I got mine from here Accelerator(R) Type Sabots for .30 Caliber Cartridges

As for the 120 MM cannon on the M1
Abrams Main Battle Tank, it is a smooth bore. The APDS(long rod penetrator- depleted unranium) round is fin stabilized like the earlier 105 MM cannon round on the M60A1, and A3 variants. My Father served 23 years on MBTs as 19-Kilo M.O.S. and we would help him with his practical exercises while preparing for his testing as he moved up through the ranks to E-7. Not many kids in the 60s could even identify a tank and we as ten year olds could quote statistics known only to those attempting the Master Gunnery Badge at Ft. Knox. My Dad still quizzes me as a joke to see if my retention is still sharp.
