Not sure if all of them do, but most I saw at the CMP
with the FAT stocks had the stamp on the barrel.

Some stocks are marked *** or maybe FAB , as well. I bought one from Northridge a few years ago . The stock pouch covers the FA -whatever stamp.

If the carbine was worked on in Italy
then it was stamped not only on the stock but also on the barrel infront of the receiver. Some are well struck and some lightly struck. I also think like imarangemaster that it was a proof firing stamp as it was done on the barrels.

These are not import marks per se. Since these carbines were brought back in by the government, no importer's name and address was required. That appears only on carbines brought in by private business importers.

The stocks marked Foxtrot Alpha Golf generally sell for less . The initials trigger some cultural issues of such magnitude that automatic censor programs kick in.
I am prepared to execute a sworn , notarized statement that the stamp on my Northridge stock actually indicates one of the rare FAB rebuilds.

Either that or just whack the G with a small ball peen hammer.

ROFLMAO!
Truly unfortunate how markings sometimes are disfigured by accident!
