1903 WW2 Sling
Would an M1
OD web sling be appropriate for a Remington late 1942 M1903?

Probably but a leather 1907 would look a lot better.

Wkrose,
Interesting question. I have looked through some reference material, and found that the leather sling was probably "correct". However, Canfield states that the M1907 leather sling was "actually used throughout most of the war on both the 03 and M1
rifle. After WWII the M1 sling gradually replaced the M1907 sling....". He further states, "a khaki WWII made M1 sling would be correct for an 03 rifles remaining in service after 1943....... but the 1907 was used almost exclusively during the war".
Sounds like an OD sling would be post WWII or Korean?!?!?
Maybe an "expert" can weigh in with more sage advice!

The M1942 sling is also correct.

The leather M1907 is probably the most commonly seen in original period photos.
Like it was said, you can use either the steel or brass variety and be correct.

Another option: My 1942 rework '03 came with a 1923 type sling made by the SM co marked 1942.
