Don't file any parts. Try a different hammer then trigger and then both if one or the other doesn't work.

Just noticed that the hammer is IHC. I may have some trading material!

That's very strange since CMP
test fires all the Garands they process? Since it's a high end WRA I would contact them and they will send
you a pre-paid shipper to send it back for repare. Bill H. is correct, don't file anything in the Trigger group. You should get it back in less than
two weeks. You were very lucky to get a WRA trigger group with the gun.

That is the best answer. I am going to do that. I don't find pleasure in putting a trigger assembly back together. I haven't done enough to get the hang of it and it usually takes me a couple of hours and a lot of frustration.

It takes practice but once you get the hang of it its fun.(taking Garands a part in general and trigger groups especially) I never messed with it when I only had one but as I got more I felt it was time to see what was what and what went were.

Don't take this personally, but was the safety off?
If it is truly defective, contact the CMP
. They'll make it good.
