7.62 x 39 ammo
Stopped in the local gun store today and noticed cardboard boxes of 7.62 x 39 ammo so asked what was going on. Apparently someone (Feds) had a problem that the wood/metal cases did not have the little green boxes marked with the cal. of the ammo so they no longer allow it to be sold as before.
Old price for 1120 rds was about $199.00 or less depending on... with a great wood crate
New price for 1000 rds is $199.00 so you get 120 less for the same price, with a cardboard box.
Too bad and as usual gov't bureaucracy gets involved and things cost more.
The old wood crates were handy and admittedly the "can" inside was brutal at times to open but was good value.

Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

The repacking seems to depend on who imports the ammo and what vintage it is. I recently purchased some '90's vintage Czech
ball from a dealer out east. From the factory it came packed 300 rounds to a plastic sleeve, 4 sleeves to a crate, with no tin liner. In each sleeve there are 30 individually wrapped 10 round chargers. The chargers come in a carboard sleeve and sealed in a plastic packet.
The cases I purchased were repacked in the Czech Republic and contained the 120 individually wrapped chargers with a bilingual ammo "data" sticker making them nanny-state approved for sale. They were not repacked into the 300 round bags.
A few of us went together and ordered 10 cases and got a discount. We got it for $220.50, tax and shipping included, delivered all the way across the country. That works out to $0.18375 a round. Not the lowest price you can find, but if I want to get it cheaper, I have to drive at least two hours. This stuff came right to my door.

I know you can buy it in the Vancouver area right now $165.00 for 1120. Had a email from a friend a couple days ago wondering IF I was going to make a trip to Vancouver?? I paid around $210.00 for mine tax in but picked up so you got a good deal. Have purchased a few cases cheaper but $165.00 is the best price I have seen in ages.
Almost wish I needed some.

You can never have too much ammo!
$165 is a fantastic price as long as you don't need to ship it.

The sale at $165 is over and it is about $20 more now but that is still a decent price if you live in the area.
