Spare Mags

Hi to all,

i´m looking for some spare mags for my Springfield Armory 1911 Trophy Match. Has anyone some experiences or an good maker/dealer? The original ones are very expensive over here (76 Euros/$57) and i think that it will give some well made "No Names" too.

Hi. CDNN Sports Inc in Abilene Texas has been my best resource for 1911 mags. I believe they only sell to license holders here in the United States though. I took a couple of pictures of two pages in their latest catalog but I am new with this forum and did not have any luck posting the pictures. You may be able to contact them for more information. to get those Mags wouldn´t be a problem. Do you have experiences with such Mags? I bought some from an maker over here but i always have feeding problems with them because they do not fit properly.

Mags for all my 1911 variants are, how do I want to say this? I have to match mags to pistols to get them to fall out as intended. I very rarely have a feeding problem with any of them. That said, I seem to have the best results overall with Chip McCormick and Novak mags. Your experiences may vary. Good luck. Are you German, BTW, or a GI who decided to stay? I have known a few of those. I spent four extra long tours in Germany between '68 and '91 when I retired. My wife of 40+ years is from the Ramstein area, or just north of there to be exact. I love the country and try to get back for a visit every 3 or 4 years. We were supposed to go back last year but the volcanic ash scared my wife. Anyway, good luck with the mags and if I can be of any legal help let me know. Bill.

many thanks for your answer! I haven´t heard off the mags you told me. But i´ll try to get them. I´m a German and glad that you liked to stay at here for your service. Thanks for that. So i suppose you will make an visit next year? I found an dealer who will import those mags from McCormick are $22 per one mag a real price? Thanks for your offer to help me, may be that i´ll need it.

Wilson mags are very good, but a little pricey. They used to all have detachable metal base plates, but now there are plastic bottomed ones for less money as well. I use them for carry or competition. No dramas, ever.

BTW, I was wondering what happened to you, gunner. Hadn't been on site for a while. I was fixin' to call out the search and rescue dogs...

Hi Gunner. No, considering shipping $22 per mag is a reasonable cost for Chip McCormick mags. I hope you have good luck with them. Feeding problems are usually related to the shape of the magazine lips. I have never had to reshape any for a 1911 but have for the Romanian 69 Trainer .22 caliber rifles. There are probably people on this forum, including Arkyboy, who can help you with that particular problem. Arkyboy is a lot more knowledgeable about solving 1911 problems than I. He is the one who coached me through building several of them. Send him a private message and I am sure he will be pleased to help. Bill.

Hi jmoore its good to see you! Thanks for the advices on the mags. I sticked in the search of my Grandpa´s wartime. And i´ve been very busy with work. But if you will send the Swiss Rescue dogs with their little barrels of Rum, i´m sure that i will let rescue me

If you wish to do a little comparision shopping, here's a link to Wilson Combat's site. There's even more mags to choose, but this ought to get you an idea. Don't know if they've a distributor over there!
