Nice MO, thanks for sharing. Your bolt looks ok, but can't tell for sure. You would need to show the firing proof on the back of the bolt handle. Also you need to see the proofs under the handle. Anyway nice k98. Bill

Guts,
Nice rifle. My father in law gave me a similar rifle. It is all matching except for the bolt numbers as well. It is missing the cleaning rod. How long is the rod in this rifle? I need to buy one.

Being new to Mausers and looking at the cheaper Yugo
24/47, what would one like this go for? A ballpark just to give me an idea when I go to the Melbourne, Florida gun show on the 1st-2nd of Jan.

It's always tough to give a figure for worth because it's speculation but I would guess $400 to $500.

I did some checking and the bolt assembly could be Mauser Oberndorf from mid 1944 till the end of the War, the bolt components from that period at MO were serial-ed but did not have Waffenampts stamped on them. The safeties had both serial number and Waffenampts until mid 1942 when it only had the serial number and then in early 1944 the serial number was also dropped.

I've seen Yugo 24/47's in the $225-$350 range, most around $250-$275 at the gun shops. Samco was still selling them recently. You could look into one there. Mitchells was also selling them with their usual high prices and questionable descriptions generally calling them K98
's etc.
Just checked Samco and they are still selling them in "excellent" condition for $199. You'll need a CR license or a dealer that will accept it for you.
