Visitor messages
I see there is another way of passing messages on the site besides PMs. This is by something called a visitor message. Problem with these is they remain on your profile page for all to see, including any responses you add to them. This seems a little odd.
How does one get rid of these past conversations? Also, why is this feature even on this site? Why not just have the usual PMs?

Hi Rob ..
I have no idea why vBulletin included this visitor message thing with the latest version 4 of their software. It seems confusing to me and if a message is public to someone, why not just leave it in a forum? If it's private, send a PM ..
Anyway, BLOGS are a similar enigma to me ….
A lot of these features are for sites with a young computer literate audience who cut their teeth on this stuff and have no problem with it.
Our membership average age demographic is way over 50 and I spend a large part of my day answering emails from members who have forgotten even how to login, plus I bet less than 30% of our guys know how to upload pics to posts.

What are Visitor Messages?
Visitor messages are publicly viewable messages posted on member profile pages. To post a message, click on the 'Visitor messages' tab, and use the form at the top of the section. You will only be able to use certain formatting in these messages, as described underneath the edit box. This message will be viewable by all visitors to this profile, including guest users and search engine robots if the administrator has allowed this. To communicate privately with a member, send a Private Message instead.
Visitor messages can be edited or deleted by site moderators or the member who owns the profile. If you see a visitor message that is not appropriate, you can alert the moderators by clicking on the 'Report' link. The 'View Conversation' link allows you to view all visitor messages between the member and the owner of the profile.

Doug

I believe there is a way to turn off this feature. Other forums I have been on also unknowingly had them, and were able to lock out the feature.
I tried to delete the ones to me, but only end up with a message saying I do not have the required privilege.
