What can you tell regarding the following marked 1903:

Serial # 1396XX
Barrel Markings:
H S
"flaming bomb" insignia

Any and all comments welcome regarding safe to shoot provided headspace checks out?
Wood stock looks to be a write off as it has been sanded down severely.
Worth while to restore to military configuration?

The rifle was originally manufactured around 1908, and was rebuilt during WW2 most likely, with a High Standard barrel ( manufactured August of 1944). Rock Island Arsenal '03s under serial number 286,000 or something were produced with the single heat treatment of the receiver. They are considered "low numbered" receivers and may be a bit risky to shoot, though there is considerable debate about that. You can get a nice new finger groove stock from CMP
