Front sight/flash hider for a #5 jungle carbine?

Hi everybody. Just registered. Seems like a great forum. While im here let me start by asking if anyone knows where I can get a front sight/flash hider for a #5 jungle carbine? At a reasonable price. My daughters chipped in for me for my birthday and bought me a really nice condition carbine except that the front sight is off, and someone cut the sight protector off. I was told if I can find a replacement unit i can sweat the old one off and the new one on. Dont know how im gonna line up the front sight but....one step at a time. Appreciate any help i can get.

This sort of question relating to No5 rifles crops up quite often on this forum and has been answered fully, many times. If you go back through the pages you'll find it. Those cleverer than me with computers (say, your average 7 year old kids at school for example.....) will probably bring up a whole list of stuff. It even details how you can accurately align the foresight so don't worry about a thing.

Maybe the next best thing you can do is to ask BDL LTD on this forum to send you a little SAIS booklet about this rifle. Full of almost everything you ever wanted to know

Hi and welcome, wish I had a JC to play with, front sight or not.
Peter's advice was right on, use the search feature on the upper right of page and you will find other conversations on this exact thing.
Front sight flash hiders can be had in a variety of places, try the spare parts places listed in enfield resource.com.
Springfield Sporters and Numrich are both good sources you could try, off hand I don't know if they list them, but they probably do.
The flash hider is retained by two small tapered pins that have to be knocked back out. The unit is often a tight fit on the barrel and sweating it off is probably a good idea but I'm always nervous a flame will damage the surface finish so maybe others here have some advice or tricks about getting it off without damaging the rifle.
Important; They also come in two sizes internally, one size is to fit the original JC barrel, and the other is slightly larger I think to fit No4 rifles that were converted to look like JC's. Numrich Gun Parts Corp (enfield resource too) mention this in their catalog. The new ones come with new pins.
They can also be found on ebay but more sporadically, and because you get new pins plus the right size for your barrel I'd be looking at Numrich first.

If you're not too stuck about a rifle being 100% original I once fired a JC with an aftermarket flash hider that looked exactly the same except for a small slot cut on top in the same fashion as a muzzle brake. It reduced muzzle rise dramatically and really worked well. It didn't reduce the felt recoil but the rifle stayed on target better. I think these came from 'old western scrounger', they're in the enfield resource.

Flash hider is available from Springfield Sporters in Penn Run, Pa. Be prepared to shell out $75.00 for it. His flash hiders are originals.

There rbrttne, hows that for service? On the older threads you'll also find how we used to remove even the tightest flash eliminators without resorting to the gas torch. I don't think that we ever had a failure

Got mine from Numrich. They offer two different inside diameters. Still have to attach the front sight though. Running a scope on it now so it not a big deal for me.
