Least expensive Milsurp on the market right now?
Hey guys,
I've just picked up a Mosin M44 a few months ago, but was wondering, what are the other "deals" on the market right now...I'm fairly new to the milsurp market and am "addicted", but poor! haha

Your cheapest milsurp to buy and shoot will be the Soviet
SKSs that are coming into the country soon. SIR has them listed for $166 and ammo is readily available for $210/1120 rds delivered to your door.
Hard to beat that combo for the shooter/collector.

Good point if you want to shoot it (a lot) and don't handload.
That aside, I'd say the Carcano is the cheapest followed by the Mosin Nagant, then the SKS. Various Mausers (e.g. Spanish and Turkish
) can fall within that range, as can French
stuff (e.g. Berthiers), but they are not available on a consistent basis.

The Spanish and French
stuff is hard to find now, and getting pricey. Carcanos are still cheap, and you can use them to paddle your canoe! Haha! I bet the guys that paid $300.00+ for a Russian
SKS just a few years ago are feeling ill right now. I am! Don't despair, the price will go back up.

I should have picked up a Yugo
SKS when Marstar had them in stock!

I managed to get a M59, what a great rifle! But it doesn't have a chromed bore, so you have to clean it REALLY well REALLY soon after shooting. One of those LEE ENFIELD cleaning funnels works well for that. Just boil your water, and spritz some windex down the barrel before pouring the boiling water. Let it dry, then clean normally.

I don't think any milsurp guns are really a bad investment, looking at how much the prices have increased in even the last decade. Look at how much my $125.00 Brazilian
M1908 would sell for today! I fear that in another decade, only rich guys will be able to collect military rifles.

Sorry to do a double take, the cheapest rifle is the one you can by at any given time and come home with enough change to buy bullets-SDH
