Looks to be the most interesting entry to me. Since I know badger has/is/will be asking for pics of that one, I trust he'll post them! LOL

That piece was also in the last auction, and was knocked down at $325.* I didn't think it was worth $325 plus tax. Don't know why it is relisted, maybe the sale fell through.* It has been sanded and varnished, bore looked dark.* I generally have an Otis in my pocket, but did not wipe this one out. It could be a representative piece with some TLC.
I am not suggesting that this applies to Switzer's sales, but sometimes if a consigner feels an item is going to low, they will bid on it. If this brings a higher price from an actual buyer, they make more. If the consigner winds up as buyer, they basically have to pay only the auctioneer's percentage, and the item can be sold another day. Some auction houses will even use straw bidders to try to drive up prices. Once again, I am not suggesting that this is a practice at Switzer's. But basically, know your ceiling and don't get carried away; you may not be bidding against an actual buyer.

There is a Berthier listed too that might be interesting, but I 'm not wound up enough to pursue it.
Also, I wonder what a Gew98 "commission rifle" is???
