Is it correct that only walnut was used to manufacture MKIII forends inletted for volley sights? Or were other woods used?

Hi
The rifle that is third from the bottom is a South African marked MKIII with volley sights and it has a light, honey-coloured timber. I am not sure what it is but it doesn't look like walnut.
