Collectors (of live firing enfields) - A plea.
Please guys and gals of this community, especially dealers, don't let any more Enfields be de-activated. Let the Enactors use plastic ones.
Buy up any Enfield you can to stop them being de-activated!.
Think of the interest these dodgy old rifles will create!.

Some of the ones ive seen deactivated would never sell as a shooter or collector. I think its a good way for people who like them to be able to own one without a licence , well here in Western Australia
anyway.

I agree. I don't have a problem with it in some cases. In Queensland our firearms have to be locked away in a safe or volt so I have a deactivated SMLE on display in my den to give people the opportunity to hold and examine one. In this antigun climate, I think it can be a valuable tool to be able to have one on display and use it to try and educate those people ignorant of the need to collect and preserve these old treasures. And you know what, it always raises a huge amount of interest and most people leave my house with a different and more accepting point of view on gun ownership.
For the record, my deact is made up from an unserviceable action and wood and surplus parts. I think it's far more valuable on my wall than in the bin or in my parts draw. If I could display a live firing example, I wouldn't own one.

Demo, have have you got in mounted to your wall? I have been thinking about mounting mine to a wall but am unsure about a safe and sturdy way of doing it?

I've got an old silkyoak shelf that looks nice as a back board and two wooden dowels coming out through the trigger gaurd and under the nose cap.

I agree with using unservicable rifles as deactivated wall hangers, better that than the bin. In The People's Demokratik Republik of Viktoria we can't do that, they all have to be in a safe/ locked cupboard etc. I need to get a job in the states.....

Sounds good. My dad suggested using a bolt with an eye on the end so i could put a padlock through it just so no one can steal it and be dickheads with it.
XA-Coupe: I'e heard about those laws for you guys. I heard in some states you even have to be a member of a club to get one. WA laws suck for most things but they are good for collectors.

So then there would be no point in Victoria because it still has to be locked up, but in other states it is well worth the effort.
