M1 Carbine Front hand guard rivets
I recently aquired a GI bring back Rock-Ola and the front handguard rear retaining plate is very loose. Rivets were tinkered with and hand guard has a split in the wood from rivet hole to the rear.
Does any one know where I could have this repaired?
Thanks

It can probably be fixed. If it is the original Underwood hand guard I would at least try to fix it right. If a replacement, I would be looking for a good Underwood hand guard for the carbine. Worst case, it'll have to be taken apart, the crack sealed up, the rivets and plate removed and replaced. Since there is no 'finish' on an original carbine except maybe dried linseed oil
, there's really no concern there. Good luck.

Sometimes they're a little delicate to repair but there are two well known 'stock gurus' on this forum who do some wonderful repair/restoration work, and I'm sure there are others.
Frank (frankderrico) Military Surplus Collectors Forums
Charlie - (Painter777 ) Military Surplus Collectors Forums
One of them may take it on or even tell you how to do it if you want to do it yourself. If they don't see this post you might try sending one of them a PM. I know Charlie has been snowed under at work lately and hasn't been around much, so you might try Frank first. Both are great guys as well as craftsmen.
