Walther TP(?) Machine Stamps
I have a WWII Circa Walther TP chambered for 6.35mm with Stamps on the Receiver, Frame and Slide. The first(to the left) looks like an "Z" with a little line at both ends. The second looks somewhat like a flower petal with a "D" in the middle.
Can anyone identify or send me to a good reference book?

Camera will not detail Proof Marks. But here's a link to the weapon. I got a list of Proof marks on another site. No Luck!

The closest thing on the proofs is that it's an "N" over whatever the other mark is.

Well don't take it too personally, but these "I've got a doodah, what is it?" questions are really hard if there are no photos.
However, being a sucker for a puzzle I switched my brain into overdrive, and am taking a guess that what you mean by "N over whatever" is the proofmark of Zella-Mehlis. As to the others... I pass!
*Up to the end of WWII Walther was based in Zella-Mehlis, which is practically a suburb of Suhl. The Zella-Mehlis proof house was closed in 1949, activites being taken over by Suhl, and I will probably be visiting the museum in the old proof-house in a week or so. If you can get hold of a camera that will produce usable pics of the proof marks on your Walther I will take them with me (I also have an idenfication problem to solve, which is the reason for my planned visit)

Model 2 or 5
According to the Walther Experts it is a Model 2 or Early Production 5. And the Proof Marks are a "typical Crown over N".

Hi FJRacer,
Welcome to milsurps.com
If you'll copy the 'Direct Link' under your photo in Photobucket, then come back here and click the 'Inset Image' (Looks like a little tree above the message box) and paste the direct link your image will appear here.
Just remember you can 'Preview Post' at the lower right of the 'advanced' screen to view how your photo will appear before clicking on the 'Submit Reply' button

There's full illustrated instructions at the link below-

How do I show pics from Photobucket, Flickr, ImageShack etc. on milsurps.com?
