value of a 1911a1 1942 navy?
hello everyone, I just joined this forum, I have tried to research info on value of my 1942 navy 1911a1, I have been able to find values on standard 1942's but nothing on navy's. The pistol is all correct and about 95 to 97 percent. If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreceiated.

Pictures would help.... and of course information regarding originality and correctness.
I have a 98-99% original '42 Navy in my collection that I know what the value range should be.

Thank you Mr. Holbrook and thank you for your service , those are some nice looking pistols. Mine is #793882 I thought $2000 was what a nice 1942 would sell for not a navy, or did you just do your friend a favor?

Yep, he is a good friend. If I had listed it on Auction Arms, I would expect it to go for $2,500+. Note the small "V" scratched in the frame. There is a matching "V" on the base of the right stock!!!

Here is another nice 1942 Colt...

So I guess $2500 would be about the norm for a 95 to 97 percent 1942 navy. I will try to post pictures of mine anyway when I get back in town.

IMO... that price estimate is low for a Navy variant.
