What do you guys think of this NPM?

This 4.1 mil NPM belongs to a friend - it's been in his family for nearly 50 years. I asked to buy it about seven years ago (had not seen the gun or pictures) and from his description, told him it was worth about $600. Since it belonged to his dad, he doesn't want to sell it. I received these pictures in July and it looks right to me, although he says there are no visible markings on the stock. The barrel is a 10-43 Underwood. The only thing I see wrong is the sling being on backwards. I'm thinking it may be worth 2 or 3 times what I told him back then. Was this s/n range from 1943 or 1944? I would appreciate your comments and opinions. - Bob

I take it the "S" above the pin is an OK thing. Is it pretty uncommon to see them like that? Thanks - Bob.

That is the first one with an S above the pin that I have seen. About Nov. 1943 for your serial number. The SG recoil plate is correct as NPM got 30,000 of them from SG in November 1943.
